Why choose Meditation & Relaxation?
The benefits of meditation are many and varied. Everyone who has meditated throughout history has ‘felt’ these benefits, but this page aims to convey these meditation benefits to you.
Meditation can be defined as; the act of moving beyond conscious thought into a greater state of relaxation. It sounds cliché, but it’s true; Meditation helps the Body, Mind and Spirit.
Independent of belief or religion, or even the method used to enter a meditative state; the benefits of Meditation to the mind and body are universal.

Physical Benefits of Meditation
As a relaxation tool, meditation is a very effective method to combat the physical effects of stress. Although ‘stress’ in itself is not a physical element; think of a deadline, or financial concern, or relationship conflict … and you will appreciate how it definitely affects your physical function.
Tight shoulders, clenched jaw, tension headaches, anxiety in your stomach… Meditation, in any of its forms, gives your physical body a chance to let go of muscular tension. Allocating dedicated time for the practice of meditation is honouring and valuing your greater journey. It is like taking ‘time out’ so that you can recover, rejuvenate, and refresh your attack.
I can spend my busy days in non-stop motion – or I can sit in front of my computer for hours straight ignoring the discomfort of a sore neck, strained eyes, and the need to visit the bathroom. Sitting or lying still for meditation, allowing your awareness to travel around your body, will highlight areas of tension and discomfort. Listening to your body is respecting yourself.
Did you know the body is made up of 11 major organ systems?
- Integumentary (skin),
- Skeletal,
- Muscular,
- Nervous,
- Endocrine (hormones),
- Circulatory (blood),
- Lymphatic (disease defence),
- Respiratory (breathing),
- Digestive,
- Urinary,
- Reproductive.

Mental Benefits of Relaxation
Have you heard of the term ‘Monkey Mind’? It is a Buddhist term meaning “unsettled; restless; capricious; whimsical; fanciful; inconstant; confused; indecisive; uncontrollable”. Often when people can’t ‘control their mind’ they look to suppress it with alcohol or drugs. But one of the primary benefits printed on the flag that leads the ‘hoo-ray for meditation’ parade, is; Meditation helps find Peace of Mind. Take that Monkeys!
If your to-do list is longer than your arm, and you need to logistically organize a million variables (most out of your control), or your re-playing an awkward conversation over and over, or you can’t get to sleep, and your mind is a rapid progression of thoughts with each new idea jumping on top of the one before it, a simple meditation practice can help you.

Spiritual Benefits of Meditation
Why am I here? And when I mean ‘here’ – I mean ‘on Earth’. What is my purpose? Am I a spiritual being having a physical experience? If I do bad things will karma kick my butt? These are important questions some of us ask.
Meditation provides an opportunity to connect with your true-self, your spiritual purpose, and what is known as the universal knowledge. It is common to experience great insights or think of a solution to a problem during meditation. I’ve heard those called, ‘A-Ha’ moments.
Meditation to me is a ‘connective’ experience. I might be home alone or in a group of 20, but after meditation I always feel more aligned, viewing the world with an insightful and greater perspective.
My purpose becomes clear. My belief renewed. My love of humanity restored

Scientific Benefits of Meditation
It has been known for thousands of years that meditation slows breathing, heart rate and lowers blood pressure, but relatively recent developments in technology has given deeper insight into a factual perspective.
To put it simply; your brain is a continual hive of electrical signals, and the frequencies alternate between four different states; Beta, Alpha, Theta and Delta. You enter Beta states at times of high stress; Alpha states when busy but relaxed (cooking as an example), Theta states when zoned-out, and Delta states during our periods of deepest sleep, or when meditating.
Scientists have monitored the brainwaves of meditation masters while meditating, and have concluded that they frequently reach states in which HGH (Human Growth Hormone) is released into the bloodstream. This hormone is responsible for many things, including growth and repair. It can be near impossible to wake a child while in this state, as their active capacity shuts down as they require lots of the HGH to grow big and strong.
It’s not surprising HGH has been popular of late as a supplement to heal – and wait for it… Reverse the signs of again.
But a big ‘hoo-ray’ for the guys and gals in white coats. After they analyzed the frequencies of the meditation masters while they were meditating for specific effect, they developed a frequency map, enabling them to ‘play-back’ those frequencies to us mere mortals via headphones so guide our brainwave frequencies to the exact pattern to give us the benefit we desire.
Science has proven the benefits of meditation… and there is an amazing ground-swell of support for meditation, but I wish for the day all doctors would say; “Your telling me your stressed – Have you tried meditation?”

Meditation can be defined as; the act of moving beyond conscious thought into a greater state of relaxation. It sounds cliché, but it’s true; Meditation helps the Body, Mind and Spirit.
